The advent of such an all-encompassing appliance has overtaken conventional cooking. However, before we delve further into this model, there are a few key things to take note of.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Pressure Cooker

The Philips All-In-One Pressure Cooker is one that has solved the problem of cooking on time and cooking conveniently. Not only that, it has simplified the cooking process altogether.

If you are someone who enjoys cooking quickly and comfortably, the Philips All-In-One Cooker is one that is meant for you. Here’s why this model stands out.

Brand

Just like other wares, checking brands also apply to pressure cookers. Some pressure cookers have been in the business of making pressure cookers before others. These brands obviously make better products than their competitors.

However, it is important to know that pressure cooker brands vary in functions. Some brands solely offer slow-cook features, others offer only pressure cooking features, but the Philips All-In-One Cooker offers:

  • Slow cooking features.
  • Saute pan.
  • Pressure cooking features
  • Yogurt-making features.
  • Rice cook features.
  • And baking features.

Budget

It is common to find expensive brands in the market. Some brands do not offer features that others offer but are more expensive. These brands only sell their names instead. To find a brand that is affordable with lots of quality features, try the Philips All-In-One Pressure Cooker.

Features

A pressure cooker functions on the principle that uses water to create pressure in a compartment. If not carefully handled, problems can arise from the cooker. They can be Manual pressure or automatic problems. To avoid this, pressure cookers have fatty measures in place to reduce pressure build-up in the cooker.

Design

When it comes to buying a pressure cooker, check for the design. As much as I would want to say the design does not affect the functions, well, that is in part. You do not want to go for old-looking pressure cookers. Choose great functions and style together as offered by the Philips All-In-One Pressure Cooker.

Function

A normal pressure cooker should be able to cook food on time and conveniently. Asides from that, pressure cookers use little water, gas or electricity saving you resources. As if that is not enough, pressure cookers allow you to cook healthy foods as they do not kill minerals and vitamins in the food, but instead, the pressure kills harmful microorganisms in it.

Warranty

Warranty on pressure cookers differs from brands to brands. Some brands offer only-manufacturer damages whilst some offer mechanical damages. The Philips All-In-One Cooker offers manufacturer-warranty for up to 2 years.

Philips Pressure Cooker Review

Getting the best pressure cookers in Malaysia can be challenging. However, there’s no need to worry. Here, we have carefully highlighted some things you should consider when buying a pressure cooker.

Notable Features of the Philips Pressure Cooker

Size of Pot

When it comes to using the best cheap pressure cookers, the Philips All-In-One Cooker is safest regarding the size of the inner pot. It has a pot size of 6L that allows me to prepare food in large quantities for the whole family.

Inside the pot, there is a measuring line for you to measure the amount of water and food that you will prepare at a time. Often, if you will be preparing foods that expand like rice, I will advise you to not fill the pot to the brim. You can pour water to half the pot’s capacity.

Not only that, its pot has non-sticking features to prevent foods from sticking to the surface of the pot. This way, you can easily wash off stains with hot water, soap and a clean cloth.

Control Pad

The Philips All-In-One Cooker control parts are very easy to use. I find them straightforward more than other pressure cookers that I have used. Equipped with the Philips intelligent cooking system, your top useful buttons would include:

  • The Start Button

The start button differs on pressure cookers. Some pressure cookers label it as a ” manual button” or “pressure cook”. When you press the start button, this begins a normal cooking cycle.

  • +/_ Buttons

These buttons are just for you to be able to increase or decrease the cooking time.

  • Keep Warm and Cancel Button

This button is the opposite of the start button. When you start a cooking cycle, to end it, you will need to press the cancel button. The cancel button is for cancelling a cooking cycle or cancelling a keep-warm function.

Unlike the cancel button, the keep warm button is to keep your food warm while you wait. However, when a Philips All-In-One Cooker completes a cooking cycle, it automatically switches to a keep warm function. With this, I am not worried that my food will be cold after staying long in the cooker. Plus, cooking rice is efficient and extremely easy with this unit.

  • Sauté Button

The saute button allows you to saute foods in your pressure cooker, this saves me the stress of using another pot instead. By pressing this button, I can brown foods and saute them right in the pressure cooker.

Not only that, I have used the saute button to thicken sauces after cooking. But, my advice to everyone who wants to use the saute function, do not use the saute function when it is on.

  • Adjust Button

When switching between different cooking modes, the adjust button is designed for that. With the adjust button on your pressure cooker, you can switch between less, normal and more cooking modes as the case may be.

  • Pressure Button

This button allows you to switch between cooking in high pressure or low pressure in your Philips All-In-One Cooker. Most times, pressure cookers label this button as the “pressure level”.

Top Benefits of the Philips Pressure Cooker

Keep Warm

The keep-warm feature of the Philips All-In-One Cooker is my most used feature as I love to eat my food hot. After cooking, most people put their food into a cooler to keep it warm as leaving the food in the pot can leave it all marshy.

But with Philips All-In-One Cooker, you can leave your food in the cooker and it will keep your food warm. You can switch on the keep warm function by pressing the button or on automatic designs.

Preset Time

The preset time function of a Philips All-In-One Cooker allows you the opportunity to set the start time for the cooking cycle. For me, this function allows me to start a cooking cycle while doing other things.

However, preset time is not available in pot roast, sear high and low temperatures. Also, it is not available for baking functions. It is important to know that preset is only available for up to 24 hours and nothing more.

To switch on the preset time feature, you can press the timer button, then press the +/_ button to increase or decrease the time. Once you have done this, you can press the start button and the preset time feature will start once the preset time has elapsed.

The pre set feature allows you to set the time before the cooking cycle will commence.

Cooking Progress Indicator

Most times, people love to monitor the cooking process. Although Philips All-In-One Cooker has cooking cycles that cook your food and elapses after cooking, most people prefer to check the time remaining for the cooking cycle to elapse.

Cooking cycles differ depending on the food being prepared. Cooking cycles can range from 30 minutes to an hour or two, this you can monitor with pre set time design on the pressure cooker.

The progression indicator shows you how the cooking cycle is going.

Child Lock

For me, to be on the safe side, I switch on the child lock mode to keep my children from opening the lid and harming themselves. The child lock mode is there on the display and easy to use.

To put on the child lock mode, I press and hold the preset time button for 3 seconds to put it in the child lock mode. To exit the child lock mode, I press and hold the preset time button for 3 seconds again to exit.

Pressure Setting

To set the pressure cooker before cooking is very easy and straightforward. First, pour your food into the pressure cooker. Ensure the pressure regulator on the lid is turned to “seal” before you place the lid over the pressure cooker.

After this, press the pressure button and start. When done cooking, I often allow for natural pressure release. Not doing this can be harmful to you

It is important to note that different foods require different pressures. Also, different height altitude requires different pressures for cooking.

For people staying in high altitudes, the pressure is lower. So you may have to increase the pressure on your cooker to cook efficiently. The same way it applies to people in low places, the pressure is higher, so they require a little pressure room in the cooker to pressure cooked food.

Ensure the pressure regulator on the lid is turned to "seal" before you place the lid over the pressure cooker.

Slow Cooking

Often when I want to allow slow absorption of flavour into my meat I use the slow cook low temp function. The slow cook functions afford you time to do other things and still cook your food but at your own pace.

To use, put your food into the cooker, saute it, and pour your seasonings into it. Remember, when opening the pressure cooker ensure your saute function is off. You can switch on and off your saute function with the push of a button.

After adding your seasonings, you can add press the slow cook button and start. It is all that the Philips All-In-One Cooker offers you. Good enough to replace a single-function slow cooker, isn’t it?

Sauté

The sauté function allows better absorption of flavour into your meat. To use the sauté function, drop your meat into the pot then press the saute button then start.

You can cancel the sauté button when you want to add some other ingredients. I often advise people to always switch off the sauté button before opening the cooker. I have experienced oil splatters before, so take my word for it!

Moving on, after adding seasoning, you can then switch on the pressure cooker again to continue the sauté function.

Pressure Cook

To pressure cook, here are a few things you should know. First, there is a floating pressure valve that indicates the amount of pressure in the pressure cooker. If the valve is pushed up, it shows that the pressure in the pressure cooker is high and vice versa.

Second, always ensure your pressure regulator is on the seal before closing the lid. Third, ensure there is natural pressure release after you are done cooking.

Whenever I want to use the pressure cooking function, I ensure the floating valve is down. I then pour food into the pressure cooker, I change the pressure regulator into a “seal” position before covering the lid.

After this, I press the pressure cooking button. Pressing the pressure cooking button brings out the selected cooking mode and the default cooking cycle. Then you can press the start button.
